In 2018, the NYRR Five-Borough Series will once again finish with the NYRR Staten Island Half, a race dedicated to making a positive impact on the borough that hosts the start of the TCS New York City Marathon. Scheduled just three weeks before the TCS New York City Marathon, the NYRR Staten Island Half is a perfect tune-up for NYRR’s flagship event and features fabulous views of New York Harbor and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

The NYRR Staten Island Half will start in two waves, with the first (corrals AA-F) starting at 8:00 a.m. The second wave will be comprised of corrals G through L. You will receive your wave assignment in your confirmation email the week before the race and your corral assignment at number pickup.
We encourage participants to take public transit to and from the race. Use the MTA's Weekender schedule to plan your race-day transportation.
For participants looking to drive to the event, check back closer to race day for a list of parking locations.
Members of the NYRR Pace Team will guide participants toward specific goal times over the 13.1 miles. There will be signs in the corals starting at 6:51 per mile. If you choose to run with a pace group, pacers—you’ll recognize their blue and white striped tanks—will carry signs that correspond with the finish times and paces below:
Eligibility for entry to the 2019 United Airlines NYC Half will be guaranteed for NYRR members who have an active membership by the last qualifying event of the 2018 NYRR Five-Borough Series (NYRR Staten Island Half in October), and who run four of the following six events in 2018:
This award is presented to the fastest male and female New York City Fire Department (FDNY) members at the NYRR Staten Island Half. The trophy is named after Victor Navarra, a retired FDNY lieutenant who coordinated the start of 26 New York City Marathons, until his passing in 2007.
If you are active FDNY, be sure to select FDNY Running Club as your team in your My NYRR account. And don't forget to represent your firehouse by wearing your favorite FDNY shirt on race day.

Three-Hour Time Limit: In the interests of safety, any NYRR Staten Island Half participant who is not able to maintain a 13:45-per-mile pace throughout the race (3:00 projected finishing time) will be picked up along the course starting at approximately mile 8 and transported to the finish. The time it takes the last runner to cross the start line (not including those who arrive late to the race) will be added to the overall 3:00 time limit, ensuring all participants a 13:45-per-mile pace. Thank you for your cooperation with this policy.

Numbers (which include your timing tag) and souvenirs may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues). Number pickup is offered for this race during the following hours:
Show the QR code from your race confirmation email or your My NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Souvenirs are subject to availability.
Bag check will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Check back closer to race day for the bag check location. If you wish to check a bag, please allow additional time for that as well as security.
Runners must check their bags before entering the start corrals. All runners will be security screened before entering the start area.
If you're unable to pick up your race materials, a friend or family member can pick up for you; the person will need your QR code (printed or digitally). This policy is in effect only for our weekly races, not for the TCS New York City Marathon.
Cheer for the fastest New York City Fire Department (FDNY) members, who will be honored with the Fire Lieutenant Victor J. Navarra FDNY Family of Champions Trophy! In 2017, the winner was Denis Sweeney from Manhattan with an official time of 1:26:32.
Awards will be available to the top three men and women overall, as well as in age and gender groups as explained in this article. A list of all award winners will be posted in the results for each race.

*Staten Island residency will be determined by Zip code. a runner must have his/her My NYRR profile updated with current address at the time of registration to be eligible. A copy of an NY driver's license, NY state ID card, or current bill (within 60 days of event) with address imprinted will be required to verify borough residency before prize money will be distributed.
Athletes who have been suspended for doping by a governing body are not eligible to participate in, and should not apply for entry in, NYRR races. Extenuating circumstances may be reviewed by the NYRR Race Director.
To be eligible for any NYRR member awards, an athlete must be a member in good standing of NYRR for six months prior to race day.
